I’M AT THE MALL. Not exactly what I wanted to do today, but I needed new clothes. A necessary evil, I suppose. As I’m walking out of one of the many stores, my phone pings with a text message. I pull it out of my purse and continue on my way.

And I’m met with a solid wall. A very warm solid wall.

“Oh, my god. I’m so sorry!” I gush, trying to pick up everything I dropped.

“Lyla,” the solid wall says. My entire body freezes. I know this particular wall.

“Bronson. What are you doing here?” I stand up after I gathered the last of my stuff. Tearing my eyes away from his face, I look around nervously. I don’t want anyone to see us here.

“The same thing as you, I think.” God, such a smartass.

Shaking my head, I say, “Seriously? I doubt you’re here to buy panties. Unless that’s your thing.”

He lets out a hearty laugh. Reaching down to grab his dropped bag, he wraps his hand in the opening. He gestures for me to start walking before saying, “I’m pretty sure I could rock whatever kind of panties you wanted to see me in.”

Where the hell did the brazen guy come from? He’s been really tame since meeting him. But now? All of a sudden he’s changed. “I don’t want to see you wearing panties.”

“You sure? You seemed to like laying on me the last time I saw you. What makes you think you wouldn’t like laying on me naked?”

“Whoa! What?” I stutter. Trying to figure out where all of this is coming from. “Why are you being like this?”

“Lyla. God knows you’re beautiful. I want you. I’m trying to get you to see what I already know you feel.”

“I think you’re going about this in the wrong way.” I step away from him, to put a little more space between us. “And I can’t do this with you.”

“Lyla. Let’s go somewhere to talk.” His eyes are pleading with me. I stare at him. Should I really do this? I seem to be making bad decision after bad decision. I may as well go all in.

“All right, but just for a little bit. I have plans later.”

“Thank you.” His whole body visibly relaxes with my decision to go with him. “I know just the place we can go.”

I follow him out of the mall, and straight to his car. “Perfect place, huh?”

He grins. I love it when he smiles. “No one should bother us. We can drive around for a little bit, right? How much time do you have?”

I pull my phone out and look at the time. Trying to figure out when I need to be back home. “Probably a couple hours at most.”

“Okay, sweet. That gives us plenty of time to talk.”

He opens the passenger door of his car. His car is actually pretty sweet. It’s a classic Mustang. The color reminds me of cherry cola, so dark red that it doesn’t look red at all. But when you get it in the sun it shines so bright.
